Dear Parents,

NGCA is excited to announce that are we starting our first ever Y Club at school! Y Club is a Christian service club for students in grades 6-12. The purpose of Y Club is “to create, maintain, and extend, throughout the home, school, and community, high standards of Christian character.”

Our dues are $20 for the year, per child. If your child would like to participate in the activities, projects, and meetings then they must pay their club dues. Their dues will cover their membership for the State YMCA, as well as costs for the things we do at NGCA. Members will receive a card in the mail! Dues can be paid in cash to me, or checks can be made to NGCA.

Y Club does two different things at school:

1)They have monthly meetings which consists of a devotion, talking about upcoming projects and/or conferences, and a program- a speaker, advisor speaking, game, etc.

2)Service Projects (School and Community)- clubs perform service projects such as visiting nursing homes, making cards for children in the hospital, making goodie bags for teachers, recognizing the hard work of others in our school or community, making valentines for the elderly, collecting canned food at Thanksgiving and much more!

Y Club does offer conferences and activities for students to attend. These are not mandatory, but they do contribute to making our school club stronger. Members will receive more information about any conferences as they are announced.

I personally served as my high school club president for three years, project coordinator for one year, and North West District Secretary for my senior year of high school. The years I served my club were wonderful times and memories that I cherish. Y Club helped me to develop into a stronger Christian, but it also gave me a stronger desire for serving others. Y Club also taught me many important leadership and decision making techniques, as well as government roles through conferences that I attended. I am so excited to start this club at NGCA and I would love for your child to be involved. Not only will participation in this club benefit your child on a personal level, but it will also benefit them for the future. Y Club is a wonderful service learning club to have on resumes or applications, especially for college or college scholarship applications.

I hope to see your middle or high school student at club meetings! If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me and I would love to talk with you!

Thank you,

Ashleigh Queen
